What excites us most about prints and color is that the ending mix will always be your own. By creating unexpected pattern combinations and uniting otherwise standard pieces with uneven prints and expressive color palettes, the vision of ourselves becomes that of the uniqueness found in any part of the world. Instead of mimicking a known look, ethnically-inspired key pieces break the mold by expressing what they stand for: individual garments that are meant to be as different as you are. The best part is that this time, when the style is named "global", it deters from generic fashion available all over the world as a result of chain stores and explores an individuality that is only available at one's roots.

We posted this selection as part of the Global Fashion contest for Polyvore, like our set here!

Guatemalan Huipil Cropped Top; Printed silk-blend chiffon mini skirt from Girl. by Band of Outsiders; Embellished Suede Clutch by Matthew Williamson; Isla T-Bar Sandal by Forever New; Short Tie Jumper by Mara Hoffman; Sequin-embellished collar-style scarf by Marni; Chirica Pink Embroidered Black Dress by Antik Batik; Junko Bracelet by Fiona Paxton; Marta Sandal by BP.

Fashion might not unite cultures, but it does represent the possibility of being a citizen of the world. Full of color, artistic and intricate, ethnic patterns and fabrics are the season's most natural ways of expression. French Connection's Oriental Cotton Dress and Accessorize's Bangkok Bag are fresh, elegant and best of all, relevant in today's world. Make them your own by mixing unexpected urban pieces and embrace being everywhere in spirit.
