Finally: spring is almost here. The first rays of sunlight are starting to be seen and become our rays of hope amidst turbulent times. Creating an outfit that works well right in between winter and spring is not easy. Our inspiration for this outfit dissection comes from three key pieces: a great Plaid Blouse by Matalan, the beautiful Sara Flap Over Bag by Nica and See by Chloé's go-gaga-for Cut-Out Panel Wallet to go inside it. With just these pieces, our outfit is pretty bare, but is just enough to built a great one around them.

Not quite warm yet for an airy outfit? Choose an ever-convenient Pip Cropped Tuxedo Jacket by Twenty8Twelve to keep you warm, add a great pair of Skinny Jeans by All Saints and Topshop's to-die-for Cut-Out Shoes with contrasting ankle socks. For accessories, a Turquoise Rose Necklace by Forever 21 and Giles & Brother's wonderful Spiked Brass Oxide Bangle are enough.

A Transitional Season Outfit Dissection

When sunshine finally comes, make a few adjustments to your outfit core by adding: Diesel's fresh Cotton Blazer, a beautiful pair of cropped Silk Trousers by Stella McCartney and the comfy-yet-stylish Mock-Croc Sandals by F-Troupe. Grab Dorothy Perkins' Graduated Wood Bead Necklace and Banana Republic's Square Bracelets and you are ready to go out in the sun.

It's all about making key pieces work with any season or weather and renewing your look by mixing and matching pieces you already have with seasonal ones.

The Stripe Upgrade

Stripes are recurrent, easy to carry (when placed right) and irresistibly stylish. The Silk Jacket by Zara represents just that and more. A mix of rose salmon and black stripes give a subtle and elegant touch to a well-known punk-inspired trend. The understated round collar invites for a contradictory voluminous or frilly one (think bows or ruffles) from a top underneath; while the modern folds the jacket ends in complete a well-rounded 21st century look.

Coincidentally or not, a very similar fabric can be found in the Fendi dress featured in our first-ever issue. A wonderful design choice in either piece.

The shirt dress has proven to be a practical garment that adapts effortlessly to a variety of contexts. The Seersucker Safari Dress by Zac Posen is an equally subtle and modern example of this concept. Its inspiration is set in a romantic safari ambient and is naturally and flowingly cut for spring. Easy to transform from day to night, it will also remain relevant throughout the year by adding a few bohemian layers to it. Edge it up with stronger pieces such as a leather jacket or gladiator sandals for an eclectic look.

For good or bad, Valentine's day is just around the corner. Whether it means the world to you or it's simply another winter's day in your life, it's hard not to be part of the sugary time. In fashion, there's always something for every mood and personality, so there's hope for both types. The outfit core is made up of three balanced pieces: 3.1 Phillip Lim's Ruffled Leather Jacket (feminine with a rocker's edge); All Saints' Deadblooms Tee (Victorian-style modernity); 3.1 Phillip Lim's Peg Pants (easy-to-wear trendy).

Depending on your current lover's day outlook you can either make the outfit cool with a touch of brown sugar by adding: Marc by Marc Jacobs' Leather Slouchy Tote and Boden's Jewelled Pumps, or chocolate-covered and hard-core romantic with the help of: Miss Selfridge's Frilly Shoulder Bag and Kurt Geiger's Ribbon-tie Heels.

It's all about slightly adjusting the outfit core by making simple choices...much like choosing between bittersweet and white chocolate.

Although probably not picked out at first by most, play or jumpsuits are all this year's rage. Inspired in a predominantly 80s trend, they are now becoming relevant for the 21st century.

Both Chloé's Double-breasted Playsuit (left) and French Connection's Cotton Jumpsuit (right) are worthwhile examples of how this trend has been adapted to our current mindset. Unquestionably comfortable and fashion-forward, these two pieces are easier to welcome to our wardrobes than it seems. The gathered waists are fortunately different from the original cuts and provide a feminine detail that deters the 80s worker's look.

Prefer a no-fuss and more elegant version of the all-in-one trend? Go for Chloé's version and add a long cardigan or blazer and a waist belt for simple instant style. While French Connection's details add interest, beware of the bulk-adding pleats and ruching and style it accordingly by choosing slim-fitting jackets and no-frill accessories.

Don't forget to showcase your favorite heels with it to keep the proportions in place...the tapered and slightly cropped legs were designed for them.

There still might be a few months left until spring, but some great pieces are already making a strong statement. The Heart and Flower Dress from Sonia by Sonia Rykiel will surely become one of the most coveted dresses of the season. Its luscious red hue makes it sweet and romantic while staying irresistibly edgy thanks to the detailed pattern blocks and contrasting fabrics. Sonia by Sonia Rykiel's use of pattern has become one of the greatest contributions to the current trends and it is still going strong.

Cannot wait until spring to wear it?
Just add opaque knit tights, a long chunky cardigan and some ankle boots and you are good to go.
