Clean lines, monochrome palettes and lots of character. The straightforward style is comprised by interesting cuts and one of a kind patterns yet always remaining modernly simple. To achieve this taste in fashion, look for pieces that will accentuate your existing wardrobe and give it a new point of view while avoiding overly colorful or complicated designs. Easy on the eye repetition will be your ally and therefore symmetry, geometry, colorblocking, laser and crochet-like cuts are the way to go.

From left to right: Campbell Oxfords in Liberty Floral by JCrew; Flower printed Oxford, H by Hudson; Floral Wingtip Shoes by Forever 21; Black Floral print Brogues by Dorothy Perkins; 77100 Oxford by Rizzo.

Oxfords have made it to the top in the last couple of years: the implied elegance, the vintage air evoked and the old-fashioned masculinity in the design have created a luscious shoe. Now, after adding a pinch of sugar to the mix, the coveted oxford has become decadent, sweet and full of color. It's just like making jeans for women's curves, these feel like oxfords made for us. Embrace the trend and bring it into summer with comfy dresses and tapered pastel pants.

Tired of the cold weather, gray days or the lack of winter sun? Yearning for spring and an immediate revamping of your wardrobe? A season Mix & Match can do wonders for your style (not to mention the winter blues). Instead of neglecting those cheerful breezy dresses or spring-colored cardigans, match them to the less energetic, monochromatic winter bunch for an instant renewal of style and spirit. Pair thick textures to lightweight fabrics for comfort, added warmth and interesting layering that will never make an outfit look the same twice.

Be bold - go closet shopping for those perfect items from past seasons that nobody else has right now. Be different - instead of looking like this or that celebrity, avoid fashion clichés and make old become new with your own time-warping choices.

The cold and tough winter months need warmth: colors that calm the soul and help us keep going forward. Pantone®'s palette is full of contrasts and features four especially warm colors: American Beauty being the most notorious of them all, is meant to be a "feel-good" color and is used to complement edgy or quirky fashion. Honey Yellow brings the sunshine in while staying subdued and fit for winter, its fashion style is classic and feminine with a vintage feel. An interesting combination is created when matched with Burnt Sienna, a fall classic with a rusty twist in a base of orangey rose featured in frilly pieces with a retro touch.
Last but not least, comes the king of neutrals: Crème Brûlée. Frostier than our regular nudes, it becomes one of the most elegant hues in current styles. When paired with color, the result is impeccably chic, as it conveys joy amidst a challenging environment.

Flowers have been an eternal form of expressing our most natural side. A way of coming back to one's roots, of making a pause in an ever hectic world, of breathing new life. This season, a touch of the past has been added to the mix resulting in a nostalgic and fresh interpretation of spring. This trend is a pleasure to pair with more modern styles or keep organic when choosing neutral pieces that make the floral pattern come to life by standing out.

This is the best of two worlds united in one exciting fashion trend.

The natural reaction when waking up feeling blue? Putting on the most comfy clothes possible. Wanting to be at ease when feeling down is of course desirable, but frumpy should not be confused with cozy since it can backfire at you. We often dress like we feel and attention must be paid since what we end up wearing could in fact deepen our negative outlook. This ultimately means that a sloppy selection can end up making us feel sloppy when we least need it and so the vicious cycle continues.

The solution? Go closet shopping and select pieces that yes, are comfortable and easy to wear but will serve as an instant pick-me-up. The actual process can be fun and distracting but don't stress if you're not in the mood of creating a new outfit from scratch, you can always resort to something that has made you look or feel great in the past.

The outfit you choose will be interacting with you throughout the day and can therefore transform your mood. If it doesn't feel right, you will be uncomfortable or self-conscious all day. If it's lively and uplifting, chances are you will end up believing it and feeling likewise.

Clothes are great tools for faking attitudes and you can always fake a positive one to trick yourself.

Finally: spring is almost here. The first rays of sunlight are starting to be seen and become our rays of hope amidst turbulent times. Creating an outfit that works well right in between winter and spring is not easy. Our inspiration for this outfit dissection comes from three key pieces: a great Plaid Blouse by Matalan, the beautiful Sara Flap Over Bag by Nica and See by Chloé's go-gaga-for Cut-Out Panel Wallet to go inside it. With just these pieces, our outfit is pretty bare, but is just enough to built a great one around them.

Not quite warm yet for an airy outfit? Choose an ever-convenient Pip Cropped Tuxedo Jacket by Twenty8Twelve to keep you warm, add a great pair of Skinny Jeans by All Saints and Topshop's to-die-for Cut-Out Shoes with contrasting ankle socks. For accessories, a Turquoise Rose Necklace by Forever 21 and Giles & Brother's wonderful Spiked Brass Oxide Bangle are enough.

A Transitional Season Outfit Dissection

When sunshine finally comes, make a few adjustments to your outfit core by adding: Diesel's fresh Cotton Blazer, a beautiful pair of cropped Silk Trousers by Stella McCartney and the comfy-yet-stylish Mock-Croc Sandals by F-Troupe. Grab Dorothy Perkins' Graduated Wood Bead Necklace and Banana Republic's Square Bracelets and you are ready to go out in the sun.

It's all about making key pieces work with any season or weather and renewing your look by mixing and matching pieces you already have with seasonal ones.
