There are trends that don't even deserve to be called that since they make their way time and time again with a new perspective or twist (a status studs have also gained). The plaid trend is just what it is - a classic that doesn't really go away but is able to reinvent itself and become a must-have again. This time around, the plaid pattern is somewhat monochromatic and the edginess will come from the cut and design of the pieces it appears on. Bomber and moto jackets, oversize coats, tapered pants and metallic details are examples of how plaid is back with a cool factor that is still elegant and timeless.

A striped sweater and boyfriend jeans combo? It doesn't get more easy than that. Style it up by going the ripped and rolled-up way for the jeans and add a few extras that will make it a covetable outfit:
  • an oversize coat is the season's must-have: a camel or mustard color is the current trend but there are a myriad of choices out there.
  • pump up the coolness by adding a pair of cap toe ankle boots.
  • balance the masculine proportions and the carefree attitude by adding a touch of floral and a colorful and classic statement necklace.
That's it! A deliciously wearable yet über chic look that will get you through a relaxed weekend.

Presenting four colors from Pantone's Fashion Color Report Fall 2013: Mykonos Blue, Linden Green, Vivacious and Samba. A fresh and modern palette can be instantly created when mixing the blue, green and pink. It will give a sense of softness from the Mykonos Blue and Linden Green and a statement from Vivacious. Now, to take it to the next level, we suggest adding a pop of an unexpected color: Samba's ultra rich hue will make this outfit definitely stand out.

It's time to think transition. Fall is around the corner and a great coat is a must-have that can be styled since the last days of summer. This neutral, textured drape coat by Oasis is a perfect example of what transition fashion should be like: classic, chic and easy to incorporate to more than one season. The simplicity of its design screams style and there's no need to wait any longer to wear it: pair it with a summer dress and you're good to go.

Hate it or love it? We stumbled upon this midi patent skirt from ASOS and we have not made our minds yet. Is it too much or the coolest new alternative to a mid-length skirt? You decide! Vote for it below and if you love it we will create an outfit set around it and if not, it will go straight to the NFLust Hall of Shame.

To match or not to match? That is the question. The best part of styling an outfit is to decide whether to go matchy matchy or make it work without being obvious.

In this example, we chose three colors as the base palette: white, nude and burgundy. Then added a few touches of black, salmon and other colors from the printed pants. But since we can't stand an obvious combination, we added a bright yellow cropped top that makes a statement while uniting the rest of the palette. It's simple: the more you try out new styling possibilities, the better your outfits will get.

Clean lines, monochrome palettes and lots of character. The straightforward style is comprised by interesting cuts and one of a kind patterns yet always remaining modernly simple. To achieve this taste in fashion, look for pieces that will accentuate your existing wardrobe and give it a new point of view while avoiding overly colorful or complicated designs. Easy on the eye repetition will be your ally and therefore symmetry, geometry, colorblocking, laser and crochet-like cuts are the way to go.

We picked two current summer favorites for today's exercise in outfitology: a cropped studded vest and a black skater skirt. Making one of a kind outfits relies on choosing the perfect complements (or opposites) to an outfit core. Our first outfit core's accompaniments are all very classic and when paired with a casual denim vest and short skirt, balance and interest is created. What was fairly boring (pearls, white blouse, clutch, black heels) is now quirky and unexpected yet remains very chic.

For the second example, we chose three equally trendy pieces that portray different styles and will enhance the vest and skirt's versatility and en vogue status. However, the pale rose blouse is still an uncommon top for an edgy vest which creates contrast while the popping necklace and clutch ooze personality making the outfit trendy yet entirely new.
