Brocade goes a long way

Nothing welcomes fall better than the luscious palette and texture of a memorable jacquard brocade look. Whether you go for the unexpected playful version (left) or for the elegant upscale version (right), brocade is a beautiful way to add interest to your wardrobe. The metallic and repetitive patterns mixed in with its classic floral ways, make it a current must-have that is both opulent and daring. Include in your season's palette: nudes, taupe, browns / black, grays, gold and the color of the season: oxblood or aubergine and make it an autumn staple. Color blocking in the accessories is a great option for including additional touches of color to the mix without shifting the focus off the brocade and integrating the entire look.

Have you ever come across a fantastic fashion piece that speaks for itself? That the instant you see it you know you have to get it and create outfits around it? The same happened when we stumbled upon this Picasso-inspired printed dress by Oscar de la Renta. Its shape, its loud and unique print and the easy to match color palette make it a winner to be imported into your wardrobe regardless of its final use. Such an item is original enough to create edgy and modern outfits around it yet its classic shape allows for more polished pieces to complement it in a chic way.

Which other pieces have you found that are instant wardrobe must-haves?

The New Effortless Chic

Great outfits don't always have to be cutting edge to be memorable. Simple yet naturally stylish and elegant, a monochromatic palette with different patterns and textures makes for a refreshing and on-point fashion combination. Choose white or cream, black or navy as a base and add details in gold with chains, studs or jewelry; incorporate texture by choosing pleats, sheers or repetitive patterns and you will achieve an effortless yet sophisticated look.

A new twist on Coco Chanel's unforgettable style.

When in doubt...make it stand out!

At times, we need to wear something to adjust to our less than stable mood. Got too many key pieces you'd like to wear at once? Can't choose only one wardrobe hit for the day? Choosing an outfit that crosses the "predictable" line is not as easy as it sounds. However, texture can be a great ally to create that element of surprise while reviving long forgotten pieces. By deciding a base palette that is naturally harmonious - in our example we went for pinkish neutrals, dashes of black and gold and a popping, surprising color such as coral or cherry red - you can mix prints and patterns in the same color range as well as combining knits with more delicate fabrics or adding metallic touches.

Texture indeed creates contrast: the more you use it, the outfit possibilities will be virtually endless.

What excites us most about prints and color is that the ending mix will always be your own. By creating unexpected pattern combinations and uniting otherwise standard pieces with uneven prints and expressive color palettes, the vision of ourselves becomes that of the uniqueness found in any part of the world. Instead of mimicking a known look, ethnically-inspired key pieces break the mold by expressing what they stand for: individual garments that are meant to be as different as you are. The best part is that this time, when the style is named "global", it deters from generic fashion available all over the world as a result of chain stores and explores an individuality that is only available at one's roots.

We posted this selection as part of the Global Fashion contest for Polyvore, like our set here!

Necklace Lovers Anonymous

Whether you dream in classic Chanel, can't live without a biker jacket, crave neon or are weak for closed-collar shirts, you most probably have an affair with a necklace. The first to make the plunge into an infinity of trends, necklaces can be as daring or as timeless as you want them to be. They even have the power to make or break an outfit, create delightful contradictions or transform a plain white t-shirt into fashion heaven.

Fashion might be nothing without tops and bottoms but would you ever give up the rush that sneaking in a new necklace into your outfit gives you?

Romantic without the Frills

Romance - an ever-present reminder of the softer side of life. A mood that can be represented in textures, colors and patterns that do not need to be overpowering to be sweet. Layers and different lengths in this outfit create movement while being comforting for winter and inviting change during the day (wear without the skirt for an edgier evening look). The printed leggings and structured leather jacket create balance and make this look a staple for the coming seasons.
